Dhangadhi turns waste into business, but faces growing challenges

However, the story of Dhangadhi’s waste management does not end with collection and sorting. While marketable plastic, paper, and cardboard reach the market, non-usable waste is still buried underground. The production of blocks and tiles from certain types of non-saleable plastic is currently in a testing phase, while a project built at a cost of over Rs 200 million to produce gas and fertilizer from biodegradable waste has been unable to run at full capacity.
